You may not understand why I am who I am
From birth to childhood, adolescent to adult
The experience equal the person I am as a result
My memories make the dreams seem real
But when it all comes down to who I am
It is how I feel
The behaviors exist with consequences
Be it good or bad
As I learn and return to try not to get burned
Like everyone should in order not to be sad
I've been through a lot in this lifetime of mine
Beyond the barriers of wasting time
But now it seems I somehow know right from wrong
Even though I make mistakes to awakening my faults
And take to the grave my secrets and my thoughts
But try to reveal through poetry and prose
What I feel and try to show
The colors of the rainbow
The senses of the mind
Through alliteration, contemplation,
Breaking down defenses I sometimes climb
Wanting to hold on to the love I have
Wanting to grow old and learn to laugh
Wanting you to accept me for who I am
With my flaws and my passions
Something we all have when we judge without compassion
My body seeks to speak as my mind finds the time
To say something worthwhile and resign to being kind
My loneliness is only this
A river that flows
Over the falls
Making a sound
More than d
o
w
n
Crashing into the stream
To all the calling of my recalling
And all the moments I've had from racing fast
In the whitewater at last
To a lake
At the end
of my path...
I need you to remember me,
Maybe that is why I write these words heard in
rhythm and rhyme
Occurring to be given in the living
and in good time
But if you want
The answers to the hard fought questions
And if you want the meaning of life mentioned
All you have to do is to look inside
and look around
What it is that makes us true men
And humans to have been put down
By ideas, and fanatics, and political agendas
Be it dictator or the imitator and a referendum
The truth is we can do what is right by doing good
And to alleviate pain
as much as we remain
following like we should
The conscience of our souls and
The whispers in our hearts
For all our astonishment
In the mystery of our parts
of the whole we console
As significant with a purpose
And a meaning believing we can
if we allow ourselves to understand
Our worthiness
and to fulfill our dreaming
