Let's Give It Away

How can we go on living
And digging
Up the past
Let us cast a shadow
On the mistakes and
How we can
Surpass
The history
Of misery
And go into the day
To live and die for what
We try for
Instead of
More
Let's
Give it away
Is this why
We survive
The day
anyway?
Getting tired
Of what we have
just to throw it away?
Let's give it away

Without a doubt

Time is
Alive
Moving
Down
The line
Faster
Than fast
One moment
Is gone
To survive
The next
Movement
Of the second
hand of the
Clock as
I watch
tick tock
tick tock
It's to no avail
I am
Here
without a doubt

The Man

Yes, you can, said, the man
who implied nothing is dead
when you die
For we can understand the
life we have anywhere else
in time
Where we stand and
can be alive to laugh
at the past
as the future
Matures
And the present is in the giving
Of life nurtured for we live
Only to go on trying
without the avenue of lying
Let us cut to the Reality
of the moment
and get our heads out of the clouds
We are but
the totality of enjoyment
If we go ahead
and say, Yes, out loud

Fly Away

How is it, I'm in the world alone
With so many people without a home
Hoping for something more than a 9 to 5
Or a picnic ride, or a relationship
Carrying them to new shores
To survive the times.
We are all desiring the
Human condition
Of love up above
And fruition
Of something as simple
as a soft gentle kiss
Or a dream making unreal
More than what we miss
A passion
A purpose
A soul
Give me comfort
Give me the world
where I stand on my own two feet
and land with my head held high
I want to love to
succeed and defeat
doubt to fly

Wedding Day

I am the grass as I wound up your dad's
hands that pulled from the lawn
as a gesture for the measure of
love it would take until the dawn
to pull every blade as I laid at your feet
the clippings where you would walk
as you talk to your future husband
seeing your siblings on
your wedding day
in the parade
hand in
hand
holding yours
to give you away
I hope you understand

I am the air that fills your despair
in the bicycle as you try
to go beyond training wheels
as you fall to the side on the lawn
as you pass the sidewalk
riding your bike
falling
to softly land on the padding
I handed you from
a trike
To lovingly give you
a soft place to lay your head
As I know one day
my life is no longer
alive
but dead

I am the cat that shared your bed
at the foot of your dreams
purring in your ear as you awake
to the means
Going to school
and showing the world
at show and tell
Letting them know how I loved you
by wrapping around your legs as well
when you opened the wet can of cat food
for a treat as you know you'd never replace
the debt I have for you being my sweet
My living is giving you the very best
making sure you're always secure
as I finally give you away

I am the dog that licks your face
as you play with the puppy making
you laugh at all we have
from the picket fence
to how lucky it feels
to know the way you grew
from a girl to a bride
and how I pulled every blade
to let you understand why
I love to see you happy
with your new found love
for the rest of your life
with the sound of a dove

Less is Best

In the interest
of a few words
Where we invest
in a true world
Like poetry
prunes the tree
Growing stronger
Or to be a seed
As we sing a song
Sprouting short rather than long
Where chatter matters as the subject
Suggests to the poet who knows it
must trust and rest in our hearts
Of simplicity for we are simply
in the world where words
Occur in lines together to find
the kinds of fine treasure
In just a word for the world to say
Love above the words today
To withstand the way we hate
and understand how man relates
to love enough in a shattered world
and the onslaught of talk
with the battery of words

My Vietnam Man

When the man waved
without a word
I wondered about
his brave world
When I felt he served as a veteran
Having a flag before entering
His home as I alone became the cat
Where curiosity decided to chat
As I knocked upon the star spangled door
He invited me in as I was floored
telling me he fought in Vietnam
A green beret, in special ops
Decorated with stars
for the right to live
In a country with a heart
and was given secret orders
To pass through enemy borders
assassinating the heads of Cong
As he became betrayed by the U.S.of A.
In his day for the way we were wrong
As they did not acknowledge the kill
Or believe he was with the will
As they said he never existed!
And the country forever
together endeavored to deny
he ever enlisted
The person for certain
was a hero for all
And to come home
and learn the call
Was a ruse
as he refused
to never lose
the honor standing tall
this former veteran exclaimed,
"That's why I'll never vote again!"
Because, if they deny what I did
Then I'll deny their election bid
As they lie to everyone
In the Vietnam affair
I can only say, "they lied to me."
To say I was never there
Making me feel I wasn't real
As I risked my life to save
they re-pay me
with treason
as I will never believe
the reason they deceive
and the way they behaved

Rambling

Pages of discourse
nothing is said

Debate goes on
in my head

Memories of dreams
to finally say

My side
can always play

A song to belong
in a rhythm

When your religions
are taking you
to a different

Reality and finality of fate
For one real thought holds grace

By the hand and understands
temptation

Of man's plans
as he perceives who we are
people in a moving car

Traveling down a road too far
headed into a wall or a heart

Breaking through
this fantasy

Of writing and fighting
as we see it's only you
and only me as we

Go on this journey
through time

And arrive at a place where
life takes us

This is faith
to have a grace

Beyond the battle
and love prevails

Into the saddle of heaven's hope
but, if it is written, then, it must be true

The reality for us is due
we are living this life free

Of song belonging
to be the only way to sing

And breathe in the moment
without analyzing enjoyment

Let us live and the breath
becomes alive

To sing and bring
the next arrival

Of children at our feet
to think and do as we drink

Along the lines of wonder and rhymes
To be of peace and of thunder

My world is of this and more
A place to meditate and  never rapport

The battle of evermore
It is a fate we all can adore

The state of forever is yours
If we can see the final door

Opens to the shutting of four
in the end where five is alive

And one remains done and sane
but, if you run, it's all in vain

For the pages of you running remains
letting the journey burn questions

In your yearning answers to the mystery
life mentions

And disasters are the dancers in the spring
of maybe, letting me see the singers

Letting me pray for the beginners
Let it be and linger

My mind can find no dangerous kind of
tranquility in divine nature

Maturity surely is in danger if we cannot
speak and cannot breathe the same discourse

And then remain at peace
Love can share this care for us

Let love care and dare to trust
this hope for the future and say yes

To the answers, for we will survive the times
And leave with the dancers

For the world turns and we all revolve around
making the words resolve and call us and

To come alive surviving confusion and
page upon page of misconception and illusion

Let the planet hand the baton to you
Let the earth be worth not on more and more

But, simply say, we are always
right, if the fight for freedom always

Looks bright as
my place is faced with reasons

As we trace this back to seasons and all our journey
becomes one with the river flowing into the only giver

Which is life
alright!

The earth is the world and if you like the planet
It is yours, but if the journey burns in your soul, then,

Deliver the river back to the oceans floor
under the sea understanding the river runs into

This rambling, and if there is one thing to say, it is we live
for today, and if tomorrow brings on a love above the hope

Of heaven above, it is because, we've come to grips
with addictive behaviors and it's indicative licks

To sustain reasons, as we must remain
alive contained in these vessels of life

The Tune Under the Moon

The cat that sat on a fence
Meowed loud at the moon
To swoon his love to the tune
And soon the dog awoke
Waking up the whole neighborhood
As the cat began to carry the tune
"The moon is made of cheese I say
As I wish I could play with a mouse"
As he became the aim of the neighboring
claim, they threw a shoe from the house
Being as cool as he could be, he pleaded,
the dog could very well be the culprit
He was rough awakening the neighbors
Like a sermon screaming at the pulpit!
The man of the house told the dog to shut up
As the cat sat on the fence
while the dog would not let up
He continued with the offense
Every bark made a remark
About the cat's catastrophe
Fighting for the right in the night
So everybody could not sleep
And the man could not keep
Control of his dog
And the two kept it up for an hour
As the cat would play, the dog couldn't say
why he was barking with power
The whole neighborhood began to question
Who was to blame?
The cat who sat on the fence
Or the dog who complained?
Barking and beckoning the cat to scat
As the man called the dog none to soon
Back into the house as the cat sang
to the tune under the moon
