My Vietnam Man

When the man waved
without a word
I wondered about
his brave world
When I felt he served as a veteran
Having a flag before entering
His home as I alone became the cat
Where curiosity decided to chat
As I knocked upon the star spangled door
He invited me in as I was floored
telling me he fought in Vietnam
A green beret, in special ops
Decorated with stars
for the right to live
In a country with a heart
and was given secret orders
To pass through enemy borders
assassinating the heads of Cong
As he became betrayed by the U.S.of A.
In his day for the way we were wrong
As they did not acknowledge the kill
Or believe he was with the will
As they said he never existed!
And the country forever
together endeavored to deny
he ever enlisted
The person for certain
was a hero for all
And to come home
and learn the call
Was a ruse
as he refused
to never lose
the honor standing tall
this former veteran exclaimed,
"That's why I'll never vote again!"
Because, if they deny what I did
Then I'll deny their election bid
As they lie to everyone
In the Vietnam affair
I can only say, "they lied to me."
To say I was never there
Making me feel I wasn't real
As I risked my life to save
they re-pay me
with treason
as I will never believe
the reason they deceive
and the way they behaved
